What does Axonius do?

An asset platform that connects to the security and IT tools a company already runs, correlates their data into one record per asset and keeps ServiceNow's CMDB in step with it.

  • Adapters: "over 1200 adapters and counting" on the platform page; the adapter directory showed 1,306 adapters on 11 October 2026.

  • Asset types: Devices, identities, SaaS, software, cloud, IoT and OT.

  • ServiceNow: The ServiceNow adapter fetches CMDB tables such as cmdb_ci_computer and cmdb_ci_vm for CMDB reconciliation and remediation. Enforcement actions include "ServiceNow - Create Assets", "ServiceNow - Update Assets", "ServiceNow - Disable or Remove Assets" and "ServiceNow - Create Incident".

  • CMDB Reconciliation Workspace: Announced 22 July 2026: compares a CMDB such as ServiceNow against correlated adapter data, flags assets missing from the CMDB and mismatched field values, and can create missing records through the Action Center.

A punched line means the vendor's own pages describe that part of keeping a record current. It does not measure how well it works on your estate.

How does it keep the record current?

Axonius does not scan the network itself. It reads the tools a company already runs, such as EDR, MDM, directories, cloud accounts and the CMDB, through adapters, and correlates what they report into one record per asset on every discovery cycle. Because the record is rebuilt from sources that are themselves kept current, nobody types entries in. The cost of that design is credentials: each adapter needs API access, and the record is only as complete as the set of tools connected.

How does it work with a CMDB such as ServiceNow?

Axonius works alongside ServiceNow rather than in place of it. Its ServiceNow adapter reads CMDB tables such as cmdb_ci_computer and cmdb_ci_vm, and its enforcement actions create, update and disable or remove ServiceNow assets. The CMDB Reconciliation Workspace, announced in July 2026, compares the CMDB against the correlated record and lists assets missing from the CMDB and fields that disagree. Incidents, changes and requests still run in ServiceNow.

Where is it strong, and where are its limits?

Strengths

  • The most complete, best reconciled record in this set: 1,200+ adapters, correlation at the core, and a workspace that shows exactly where the CMDB disagrees.
  • The strongest documented sync with ServiceNow: create, update and retire CMDB records, with missing records flagged.

Limits

  • Only part of the price list is public: one per-asset band on its pricing page and a 500-asset AWS Marketplace package; other tiers go through sales.
  • Each adapter needs API access and credentials, so upkeep grows with the number of tools connected, and ticket work itself runs in the ITSM tool.

Frequently asked questions

Does Axonius replace a CMDB?

No. Axonius keeps a CMDB such as ServiceNow accurate: it correlates data from your other tools and creates, updates or retires CMDB records. The CMDB stays the system of record that IT workflows run on.

How much does Axonius cost?

Axonius prices by device: the meter is the number of unique, correlated devices, and its pricing page shows a starting figure of $8.55 per asset for 15,000 to 24,999 assets. On AWS Marketplace a 500-asset package lists at $90,625 for 12 months. Other tiers are not shown, which is why it scores 72 on pricing clarity, below the options that publish full price lists.

Can Axonius run on-premises?

Yes. Its pricing page lists a hosted SaaS option or self-managed deployment on-premises or in your own cloud, and its docs describe a customer-hosted virtual appliance on the internal network.
